Designed to augment spatial perception for individuals with total or partial vision loss, this wearable apparatus deploys an array of ultrasonic ranging transducers mounted on a walking aid frame. Each sensor emits periodic acoustic pulses and measures the time-of-flight of returning echoes to compute obstacle distance. The microcontroller fuses readings from multiple angular sectors to construct a coarse depth map of the forward environment. Haptic vibration motors embedded in the handle deliver graded tactile feedback—intensity scales inversely with proximity—enabling the user to intuitively navigate around impediments without auxiliary guidance. The entire system is optimized for low latency, extended battery endurance, and unobtrusive form factor suitable for daily ambulatory use.
