Submersible Remote Inspection Vehicle project

Underwater infrastructure—dams, bridge pilings, pipelines, and ship hulls—requires periodic inspection that is hazardous and expensive for human divers. This remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) provides a safer alternative, featuring a pressure-rated acrylic hull, six thrusters for four-degree-of-freedom maneuverability, and a high-definition camera with LED lighting array. Tethered communication carries real-time video and sensor telemetry to a surface control station, while onboard batteries supply localized power. Depth and heading are maintained through PID control loops acting on pressure and magnetometer feedback. The manipulator arm can deploy non-destructive testing probes or retrieve small samples. Buoyancy trim is adjustable through a ballast tank system for varying operational depths.
