Secure and Efficient Data Deduplication In Joint Cloud Storage

As organizations adopt multi-cloud strategies, redundant data across storage providers inflates costs, bandwidth usage, and attack surfaces. This project presents a secure cloud storage management system that eliminates duplicate data across multiple cloud providers without compromising confidentiality. The system implements convergent encryption, which derives encryption keys from file content so that identical files produce identical ciphertext — enabling deduplication while keeping data encrypted end-to-end. A proof-of-ownership (PoW) protocol ensures that only users already possessing the full file can claim deduplicated storage, blocking unauthorized access attacks. The architecture supports client-side deduplication to save upload bandwidth, chunk-level deduplication for partially similar files, and role-based access control for enterprise deployment. Performance dashboards quantify storage savings, deduplication ratio, upload speedup, and throughput across cloud endpoints. Implemented in Python with cryptographic libraries and cloud storage APIs, the system offers an intuitive interface for file upload, sharing, and audit logging. This project is a highly practical cloud computing security project for final-year students and professionals exploring secure data management systems.
