RFID Based Attendance System Using Arduino

RFID based attendance system using Arduino

RFID Based Attendance System is an electronic device that automates the process of recording attendance. Each student or employee is assigned an RFID tag containing a unique ID. When the tag is brought near the RC522 RFID reader module connected to the Arduino, the system reads the unique ID and verifies it against the stored database. Upon successful match, the attendance is marked with the current date and time retrieved from the RTC DS3231 module. The LCD displays the status of attendance registration along with a buzzer feedback. The data can be stored on an SD card or transmitted via serial communication to a PC.

Arduino is an open source electronic prototyping platform.Arduino board designs use a variety of microprocessors and controllers. The boards are equipped with sets of digital and analog input/output (I/O) pins that may be interfaced to various expansion boards ('shields') or breadboards (for prototyping) and other circuits. The boards feature serial communications interfaces, including Universal Serial Bus (USB) on some models, which are also used for loading programs. The microcontrollers can be programmed using the C and C++ programming languages, using a standard API which is also known as the Arduino language, inspired by the Processing language and used with a modified version of the Processing IDE.

RFID Based Attendance System – RC522 RFID Module

The RC522 RFID module is a highly integrated reader/writer IC for contactless communication at 13.56 MHz. It supports ISO 14443A/MIFARE mode. The module can read and write data to RFID tags, making it ideal for access control, attendance systems, library management, and asset tracking applications. It communicates with Arduino via SPI protocol, requiring minimal wiring and providing reliable tag detection within a range of 3-5 cm.
