Semiconductor fabrication, pharmaceutical storage, and metrology laboratories demand temperature stability within fractions of a degree. This control system utilizes a platinum resistance temperature detector (RTD) with four-wire measurement configuration to eliminate lead resistance errors. The analog signal feeds a PID controller implemented on a PLC or dedicated temperature controller, which modulates the duty cycle of a solid-state relay driving resistive heating elements or compressor-based cooling. Auto-tuning algorithms identify process gain, time constant, and dead time to optimize PID parameters for minimal overshoot and settling time. Data logging captures temperature trends for regulatory compliance, while alarm thresholds trigger notifications if deviation exceeds acceptable process limits.
