Online Food Ordering System

Online food ordering has transformed the restaurant industry. This project develops a complete food ordering platform. Multiple restaurants can register with their own menu management. Customers browse restaurants, customize orders, and manage cart. Checkout includes delivery address with Google Maps. Restaurant admin dashboard shows incoming orders in real-time.

PHP and MySQL Backend

PHP powers the server-side logic for multi-restaurant management, menu handling, order processing, and user authentication. MySQL stores restaurant profiles with operating hours and delivery zones, menu items with categories and prices, customer profiles with saved addresses, active orders with status tracking, and order history. The database uses foreign key relationships to maintain data integrity across the platform.

AJAX Real-Time Features

AJAX/jQuery enables smooth real-time interactions without page reloads. The cart updates dynamically as items are added or removed. The restaurant admin dashboard auto-refreshes using AJAX polling with audio alerts for new incoming orders. Order status updates flow from Placed to Confirmed, Preparing, Ready, and Delivered stages, visible to customers in real-time. Search and filter operations on the menu are also AJAX-powered.

Google Maps Integration

Google Maps API is integrated for location-based features across the platform.
Key Maps features:

• Customer delivery address selection using interactive map pin.
• Restaurant discovery based on customer's current location.
• Delivery zone validation to ensure restaurant serves the area.
• Estimated delivery time calculation based on distance.
