Non-Contact Fluid Height Regulator
Chemical processing tanks and water treatment reservoirs require continuous level monitoring without exposing sensors to corrosive media. This ultrasonic level control system mounts a transducer above the liquid surface, emitting acoustic pulses and measuring return echo time to compute fill height. The PLC converts this distance into volume using the known tank geometry, comparing against setpoint values for high-level and low-level thresholds. Based on deviation, the controller energizes pump contactors or inlet valves to maintain level within a dead band, preventing oscillatory cycling. The system incorporates temperature compensation to correct for sound velocity variation, and false-echo suppression algorithms to ignore structural obstructions like agitators or internal piping.
