Welcome to Kerala Project Center.
The V8 engine configuration represents a pinnacle of reciprocating powertrain engineering, balancing primary and secondary force harmonics through the cruciform crankshaft arrangement. This project undertakes the complete design and limited fabrication of a small-scale V8 engine, beginning with thermodynamic cycle analysis to determine displacement, compression ratio, and valve timing parameters. Cylinder head geometry—including port shape, valve seat angles, and combustion chamber topology—is optimized for turbulent flame propagation using computational fluid dynamics. The valvetrain employs a cam-in-block pushrod architecture with hydraulic lash compensation. Material selection addresses thermal fatigue in exhaust manifolds, piston skirt wear resistance, and crankshaft torsional rigidity. Dynamometer testing validates brake power, torque curve, and brake-specific fuel consumption against simulation predictions.
