Digital Notice Board Using Android Application

Traditional paper notice boards are inefficient. This project creates a Digital Notice Board using Android. The app runs on display screens in campus areas, fetching notices from Firebase Realtime Database. The admin panel allows staff to create and schedule notices. Firebase Cloud Messaging enables instant push updates. Notices can include text, images, and document links with automatic expiry.

Android Display App

The Android app runs on display screens placed in campus corridors, canteens, and halls. Built with Java/Kotlin in Android Studio, it connects to Firebase Realtime Database to fetch active notices. Notices are displayed in an auto-rotating slideshow format with configurable display duration per notice. The app auto-refreshes data in real-time when new notices are published or existing ones are updated.

Firebase Backend

Firebase Realtime Database stores all notice data including title, content, category, priority, images, document attachments, expiry date, and scheduling information. Firebase's real-time synchronization ensures display devices instantly receive updates without polling. Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) sends push notifications to display devices for urgent notices, allowing them to interrupt the regular slideshow for high-priority announcements.

Admin Web Panel

The PHP-based admin web panel provides the interface for staff to manage all notices.
Key admin features:

• Create notices with title, content, category, priority, images, and PDF attachments.
• Schedule notices with start and auto-expiry dates.
• Categorize notices: Academic, Examination, Event, Sports, Placement, Holiday, Emergency.
• Dashboard showing active, scheduled, and expired notices with analytics.
