Connected Precision Drug Delivery System project

Intravenous medication administration demands exact flow rates, particularly for vasoactive drugs and anesthesia where therapeutic indices are narrow. This IoT-enabled syringe pump replaces conventional gravity drip systems with a motorized lead-screw mechanism that advances the plunger at precisely controlled velocity. The microcontroller receives target flow rate parameters from a touchscreen interface or remote clinical information system, computing motor steps per second to achieve the prescribed dosage. Load cell feedback detects occlusion or disconnection events, triggering alarms and flow cessation. All infusion events—start time, rate changes, bolus administrations, and alarms—are timestamped and transmitted to the electronic medical record, ensuring complete traceability and supporting adverse event analysis.
