Reciprocating hacksaws remain relevant for cutting profiles that resist band saw or abrasive wheel methods. This project replaces the conventional manual or electric crank drive with a pneumatic double-acting cylinder, producing uniform cutting strokes independent of operator fatigue. A five-way directional valve, triggered by adjustable limit switches at stroke extremes, alternates pressure to cylinder ports. The cutting frame guides the blade with pretension to prevent buckling, while an automatic gravity-fed coolant drip reduces frictional heat and prolongs blade life. Stroke length and cutting frequency are independently adjustable through mechanical stops and flow control valves, accommodating materials from aluminum to hardened steel.
