Driving in rain requires constant wiper attention. This project develops an automatic rain sensing wiper system. An optical rain sensor on the windshield detects raindrops through changed light reflection. Arduino Nano processes sensor signal and controls a DC motor through L298N driver. Light rain triggers intermittent mode, moderate rain continuous slow, heavy rain continuous fast. When rain stops, wiper stops after clearing cycles.

Uses total internal reflection. IR LED and photodiode on windshield – water droplets change reflection pattern detected by photodiode.
Sensor output varies with rain intensity. Microcontroller adjusts wiper speed accordingly.
