Road traffic injuries remain a leading cause of fatalities globally, and many collisions result from insufficient reaction time or delayed braking response. This active safety mechanism introduces an intelligent pneumatic bumper system that preemptively extends the energy absorption zone before impact. IR distance sensors continuously monitor the forward clearance; when the gap falls below a critical threshold, a solenoid valve actuates a pneumatic cylinder that advances the bumper assembly by 100–150 millimeters. The compressed air cushion deforms plastically during collision, dissipating kinetic energy that would otherwise transfer to the vehicle chassis and occupants. The system resets automatically after deployment, providing repeatable protection without mechanical replacement.
