Anti Sleep Alarm for Drivers Using Eye Blink Sensor

Anti sleep alarm for drivers using eye blink sensor

Drowsiness-induced operator error constitutes a leading contributor to heavy vehicle and industrial machinery accidents. This monitoring solution analyzes the driver's facial region through an infrared-capable camera, applying a cascade of deep learning stages: face detection, landmark localization, eye and mouth region segmentation, and temporal state classification. A recurrent neural network processes sequences of eye aspect ratio and mouth opening metrics to distinguish between normal blinking, prolonged eye closure, and yawning episodes. An adaptive alert escalation protocol issues auditory warnings, seat vibration, and ultimately autonomous emergency braking commands if the operator fails to respond. The system maintains robustness across varying illumination conditions, head pose angles, and demographic appearances through adversarial domain adaptation during training.

Arduino

Anti Sleep Alarm – Arduino Uno R3

Arduino is an open source electronic prototyping platform.Arduino board designs use a variety of microprocessors and controllers. The boards are equipped with sets of digital and analog input/output (I/O) pins that may be interfaced to various expansion boards ('shields') or breadboards (for prototyping) and other circuits. The boards feature serial communications interfaces, including Universal Serial Bus (USB) on some models, which are also used for loading programs. The microcontrollers can be programmed using the C and C++ programming languages, using a standard API which is also known as the Arduino language, inspired by the Processing language and used with a modified version of the Processing IDE.

Eye Blink Sensor

Anti Sleep Alarm – Eye Blink Sensor

An eye blink sensor uses infrared (IR) technology to detect eyelid movements. It consists of an IR transmitter and receiver pair. The transmitter emits IR light towards the eye, and the receiver detects the reflected light. When the eye is open, the reflection pattern differs from when the eye is closed. This variation in received signal is processed by the Arduino to detect blink events and calculate blink rate. When the blink rate drops below a threshold or eyes stay closed beyond a set duration, the system triggers an alarm.
