Design and implementation of a GSM-SMS based smart home system

This framework establishes an autonomous home automation and security telemetry node capable of bidirectional communication via GSM cellular infrastructure. A suite of sensors—encompassing passive infrared motion detectors, magnetic door sensors, and temperature-humidity monitors—feeds continuous signals into a microcontroller unit. Upon threshold violation or user request, the processing core formats command or alert payloads into SMS packets and dispatches them through a quad-band GSM modem to predefined recipient endpoints. The appliance control subsystem enables remote activation of lighting, HVAC, and other loads through coded SMS replies, while the security subsystem triggers audible alarms and sends intrusion alerts when sensors are breached. The architecture eliminates dependency on Wi-Fi or broadband internet, making it suitable for residential deployment in areas with unreliable data connectivity. Project Center Kerala services The system is capable enough to instruct users via SMS from a specific cell number to change the condition of the home appliance according to the user's needs and requirements. The second aspect is that of security alert which is achieved in a way that on the detection of intrusion the system allows automatic generation of SMS thus alerting the user against security risk
